This week we advise you to watch auteur cinema. From 11 to 17 February, the Cinema “Tsentralnyi” will show the film “Padrenostro” directed by Claudio Noce, awarded with the Volpi Cup at the last Venice Film Festival. In addition, until February 10, the movie “Les plus belles années d’une vie” is shown at the Pioner cinema – this is the return of Claude Lelouch to the most important work in his filmography.

“Padrenostro” is a retro story with an excellent soundtrack from the 70s, a vivid example of the fact that modern Italian cinema lives not only on comedies. The director tells a story from his childhood: the action takes place in the 1970s, during the war, which was raging on the streets of Italian cities between the extreme right and extreme left terrorist groups. This is the story of two boys, Valerio and Christian, and one summer, which gave them two important discoveries: the terrible one about the cruelty of adults, the beautiful one about the power of friendship.

The leading actor Pierfrancesco Favino received the Volpi Cup at the Venice Film Festival 2020, and the film itself was nominated for the Golden Lion and Silver Lion. In recent years, the actor has already been remembered by the Cannes public (the film “Il traditore” with him in the title role received the Prix La Libera) and won the Italian Golden Globe for his role in the film “Hammamet”.

Oscar-winning director Claude Lelouch returns to his magnum opus. “Les plus belles années d’une vie” is a new film by the master, a continuation of the films “Un homme et une femme” and “Un homme et une femme, 20 ans déjà”. Anouk Aimé and Jean-Louis Trintignant will again star in the lead roles, and Monica Bellucci will join the original cast. The original film, filmed in 1966, won over 40 awards, including the Grand Prix in Cannes and two Oscars, and has remained an example of romantic drama ever since.

The new version of “Les plus belles années d’une vie” tells the story of former racer Jean-Louis, who lives in a nursing home in Normandy. The hero constantly mentally returns to his love story for Anna Gaultier, which happened more than 50 years ago. When Jean-Louis loses his memory, but still retains the image of Anna, his son asks the woman to visit her former lover. Elderly people remember the time when they were together, return to places dear to both and realize that these years were the best in their life. The touching love drama can still be seen at the Pioner cinema until February 10th.

The film distribution in Minsk is organized by Visual and Performing Arts Centre “ART Corporation”.

We advise you to take precautions and make your movie visit not only enjoyable but also safe: please wear masks and use other protective means.
