This week in Minsk cinemas starts with two masterpieces. The film-exhibition of Tintoretto will amaze even experienced art lovers with its grandeur, and the version of the iconic work of Gaspar Noe, “Irréversible – Inversion Intégrale” – the opportunity to see a once forbidden film on the big screen. The film “Irréversible – Inversion Intégrale” can be watched and discussed with film expert Igor Sukmanov on the premiere day – April 1 at the cinema Tsentralnyi.
“Tintoretto and the New Venice” is a documentary film by Herminio Perocco about one of the most talented Venetian painters of all time. The artist’s paintings amazed and frightened his contemporaries. Contemporary art critics compare Tintoretto’s work to the films of Christopher Nolan, noting the visionary power of the works of both authors.
Tintoretto is cinematic and it is a real pleasure to see his pictures on the big screen. A master of a light brush, multi-figured canvases, he took on any orders, impressed with the speed of his work and was ready to satisfy any tastes, which won him success in different segments of society, but drew criticism from other artists. The first art critic in history, Giorgio Vasari, wrote that Tintoretto “worked on occasion and without preliminary drawing, as if he wanted to show that art is a joke”. This “joke” gave birth to painting at the same time grandiose and sensual, erotic, catchy, almost pop-cultural, and therefore appreciated by descendants no less than by contemporaries. You can take a closer look at the works of the legendary Venetian artist until April 4 at the cinema “Tsentralnyi”, and until April 14 at the cinema “Pioneer” and Falcon Club Cinema Boutique.
Even for those who are familiar with Gaspar Noe’s 2002 “Irréversible”, a new interpretation of the picture will be a revelation. “Irréversible – Inversion Intégrale” is a remastered version of the original film, and in it the events already take place in chronological order. 20 years ago, Noé’s work became a scandal at the Cannes Film Festival – a provocative film about a violent relationship between a woman and two men confused with a non-linear plot and shocked viewers. The new chronological editing makes the events clearer and darker, while not a single scene or dialogue has been cut out.
“Irréversible – Inversion Intégrale” is an opportunity to look at the story in a new way, where the characters go from love to hate, from calm to chaos, from heaven to hell. The film is not recommended for viewing by people with a mobile psyche and cardiovascular diseases. The film will be screened in the Falcon Club Cinema Boutique from April 1 to April 14, and at the cinema “Tsentralnyi”, from April 1 to April 7.
