An impressive interpretation of Dostoevsky by the genius Boris Eifman – the ballet “The Brothers Karamazov” – can be seen in Minsk within the scope of the Stage Russia HD project as part of the Theater Club at Silver Screen. The audience will be able to share emotions and discuss the production right after the screening: theatrical experts will be present at the show, and Tatyana Boborykina, a literary critic and art critic, teacher of the Boris Eifman Dance Academy, will communicate with the audience via video conferencing. The show will take place on April 23 at VOKA CINEMA by Silver Screen (Dana Mall) at 19:30.
For the second time in the past 20 years, the Boris Eifman Ballet Theater returns to Fyodor Dostoevsky and his complex philosophical novel “The Brothers Karamazov”. The ballet, which does not leave anyone indifferent, was created by Eifman after revising his own production of The Karamazovs. The new ballet with renewed dances, decorations and cast of characters has become an emotionally and intellectually rich ballet psychodrama. “The Brothers Karamazov” is a modern and expressive ballet that will take your breath away. Boris Eifman turned to unshakable moral foundations and created a ballet about fighting against God and seeking God, disbelief and faith, the nature of human sinfulness and spiritual salvation.
Eifman’s subtle works confirm that ballet seeks to expand the possibilities of body language. The Brothers Karamazov develops the traditions of psychological ballet art, turns to the origins and depths of human nature, returning us to ourselves in this imperfect world.
It is not for nothing that Eifman again turns to one of the most important works of Dostoevsky: “The novel “The Brothers Karamazov” is the result of Dostoevsky’s creative path, the philosophical quest of the titanic restless mind. Over the course of two decades, observing the course of the modern history of our country, I never ceased to be convinced of the eternal relevance of this work, which became the writer’s spiritual testament”, – the director emphasizes.
The show will be held within the framework of the “Theater Club at Silver Screen” – this project shows the world’s best performances in high-quality video format. Coffee before the show or during the intermission, vivid visual impressions and lively emotions will allow you to immerse yourself in the theatrical atmosphere. After the screening, viewers along with invited guests from the theater sector participate in a discussion and will be able to ask questions to theater experts.
This time Boris Eifman’s production can be discussed with music and theater critic Nadezhda Buntsevich, as well as with choreographer Sergei Mikel. The meeting will be moderated by the director of Visual and Performing Arts Centre “ART Corporation” and International Theatre Festival “TEART” – Angelica Krashevskaya.
