The 5 best applications were selected for participation in the “Ready-Made World” laboratory, dedicated to the ready-made technique in the theatre. During the month the curator of the project Elena Malchevskaya and the artistic director of TOKtheatre Alexander Marchenko have been selecting the applications. Both experienced and novice directors are on the short list of team leaders. Now, meet the participants!
“We’ve been selecting the applications with a certain goal: this lab should bring together participants with different experiences and different ideas. But as a result – and we are very happy about that – the area of research turned out to be wider than we originally planned. We thought the leaders of the creative teams will involve a director and a set designer, and after the selection there appeared new combinations: a playwright and a set designer, a writer and a set designer. I think such professional polyphony and interaction with one another will provoke a busy laboratory process that is important for the participants. It will be a process full of unexpected questions and answers. And, of course, with interesting sketches of performances that will be shown in public,” commented curator Elena Malchevskaya.

The “Ready-Made World” creative laboratory will start in April, completion of work and demonstration of sketches are scheduled for June. In the near future, participants will take part in an online kick-off meeting, during which the curator will formulate the goals and objectives of the laboratory and outline its progress.
Ready-made is a technique applied in various forms of art that uses ready-made objects from our everyday life to create art works. The participants will focus on theatre productions that can be created with help of ready-made technique.
