The guests of the Theatre club this Sunday will be Nadezhda Buntsevich, music and theatre critic, editor of the newspaper Culture, and Anna Korzik, Master of Arts and Artistic Director of the dance theatre Altana. Angelika Krashevskaya, club moderator, Director of the center “ART Corporation” and the International forum of theatrical art “TEART”.

The tragic story of a naive girl whose heart and mind could not stand the betrayal of her lover, once became the basis for the main romantic ballet of world heritage, but continues to excite the minds and imagination of choreographers today.

Akram Khan is one of the most in-demand and celebrated choreographers in Europe, winner of the Laurence Olivier Award for outstanding services to ballet and Recipient of the Order of the British Empire since 2005. Akram Khan worked with actress Juliette Binoche, ballet dancer Sylvie Guillem, and composers Steve Reich and Ben Frost. One of the choreographer’s widely recognized achievements is the production of an episode of the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Summer Olympics.

Akram Khan presents a completely different Giselle: not only he chooses other librettos and music by Adolphe Adam. Together with Vincenzo Lamagna, he creates a score, as Sutherland says, “that is respectful of its roots, but also is respectful of today’s audience, and also something that grabs the attention and holds it from the first bar”. The audience is waiting for a completely new story, where only love remains unchanged.

In the newspaper Culture Nadezhda Buntsevich notes “how subtly and soulfully the ballet used hints of the classic original, where the dance was combined with pantomime. And most importantly, everything can be understood without looking in the libretto, only through a visual solution.”

Silver Screen Theater club is a project where the best world productions are shown, discussions are held, people get acquainted or just come for intellectual leisure. Every meeting Theatre club aims to create an atmosphere of theatre in the cinema: by meeting guests with three calls, original programmes and intervals.

Additional screenings of the production will be held on October 20 and 23 at VOKA CINEMA by Silver Screen.
