“Weekends with Lars von Trier” has been successfully held at cinema “Pioneer” for the third week. The next weekend is dedicated to the mockery of Trier – on February 19 the movie “Direktøren for det hele” will be shown, and on February 20 – “Manderlay”. These works will reveal Trier not only as a deep researcher of human psychology and soul, but also as a director with a unique sense of humour and sarcastic irony. After screenings you can discuss what you have seen with the film expert Igor Sukmanov. In addition, the legendary “Dancer in the Dark” can still be seen in cinemas until March 3.

“Direktøren for det hele” will surprise even those who are well acquainted with the work of the Danish director. Trier, who has already managed to shoot a musical, thriller, horror, melodrama, took up a completely unexpected genre of comedy. “Direktøren for det hele” is a minimalist movie with a peculiar Scandinavian humour, the plot of which is built around the sale of an IT company. There is only one problem: once its owner invented a non-existent fictitious leader so as not to be responsible for unpopular decisions. Customers insist on meeting in person, and the owner has to hire an actor to play the boss. To his surprise, the actor discovers that the new role represents a serious test for his moral convictions. The film will be shown on February 19 at 20:00.

The next evening, Lars von Trier will discover America. “Manderlay” shocks with its radical view of the unshakable values ​​of American political correctness, turns it inside out and re-evaluates our humane principles. Like the previous film “Dogville”, it was filmed in a pavilion with a black backdrop, where almost everything is conditional, even the props. After the events described in “Dogville” the heroine Grace and her father decide to move to the south of the country and go in search of a new home. Fate brings them to the Manderlay plantation area. Despite the fact that slavery was abolished 70 years ago, blacks still live here in the most severe conditions and are subjected to oppression from the white “masters”. The irony in this picture borders on the recognition of the collapse of idealism, and Trier again leaves the audience with many existential questions to themselves and the world.
